Deadline to Comment on GMO-Labeling Standards is Tonight at Midnight

Two quick things to share with you before the July 4th holiday.

First, as I wrote about several weeks ago on Organic Insider, the deadline to comment to the USDA about the proposed GMO-labeling standards is tonight at 11:59pm EST.

The standards have many problems and are very confusing and misleading to consumers.

Among other things:

– Instead of using the term “GMO” or “Made with Genetic Engineering”, the USDA has replaced it with “Bioengineered”, a word that most people do not understand.

– Instead of using a neutral symbol to indicate that a product contains GMOs, the USDA has proposed a symbol that has a smiley face and a sun, both of which indicate that GMOs are healthy for you!

To learn more about these standards and to tell the USDA that these are just not acceptable to the American consumer, click HERE.

However, you must act quickly, as the deadline to comment is tonight at 11:59pm EST.

Second, because of tomorrow’s July 4th holiday, Organic Insider will be coming out on Thursday instead.

In this week’s newsletter, I will be sharing with you my big takeaway from the Fancy Food Show and Good Food Mercantile — two excellent food shows in New York City — and some of the more interesting products that I discovered.

Have a great day!
